August 26, 2009

This is the guy who scored his team's first touchdown in practice. Which made him a whole lot happier about that whole practice thing.

August 25, 2009

This is one of Rowan's favorite activities. Usually the workers know to expect him, and will wave at him quite nicely. This guy must be new.

And yes, I do like this outfit. A lot. If it's clean, he wears it.

August 24, 2009

Rowan helped me make banana chocolate chip muffins. He was very angry that he couldn't lick the eggshells, but was pacified with the chocolate chips.

August 23, 2009

We start them young around here. Please note the unsportsmanlike conduct at the end.

August 22, 2009

Rowan's birthday party was Saturday. For all practical purposes (in his head) he's now two. Just ask him.

He loved his party. He loved the singing (still does) and the cake and the presents. He did think we moved a little too slowly between the cake and the presents though.

Thanks to all of you who helped us celebrate!

We have a sunflower!

August 20, 2009

I had a really great video of Rowan telling you how old he was (one, almost two), what his birthday party would be like (chocolate cake and frosting cake), what his presents should be (trains and engines), and on and on. Unfortunately, it won't upload, so this will have to suffice.

August 19, 2009

Happy first day of 2nd grade!

August 18, 2009

On Tuesday we went to the fair. Jon's work gave us tickets and a parking pass, so why not? We got there a little before nine. We hit Little Hands on the Farm, got some doughnuts, then checked out the animals. Then Ellie and I went to the Varied Industries building while the boys waited in line for BBQ samples. We were home by 12!

August 17, 2009

On Monday we got to take the kids' school supplies to school, meet their teacher, and check out their classroom. We had nervous kids before, but chatty, excited ones after.

Seriously, he just doesn't understand that he's not going.

August 16, 2009

Tomorrow is Meet the Teacher Night, when we get to take the kids' supplies in and (duh) meet their teacher. Today we labeled all their supplies and packed them in to the backpacks. Even Conor "I can't believe you interrupted my solitary play to make me do this" Wilson enjoyed himself.

August 15, 2009

Jon and the big kids went fishing on Saturday, so Rowan and I went to the splash park. I thought he'd love it, and I guess he did, but this is how he spent most of his time.

August 14, 2009

If you're tired of video of Rowan dancing, you need to find a new blog.

Just to keep things interesting though, this one includes Sarah's godson. He's got some moves also.

August 13, 2009

On Thursday we went to see the new turf at the UNI Dome, and the McLeod Center. Conor and Ellie went to the top of the seats in the dome, then ran the length of the seats in the dome and sat in Grandpa's football seats. They then ran around the basketball court and sat in Grandpa's basketball seats. They slept pretty well last night.

August 12, 2009

On Wednesday we went to Grandma and Grandpa Runchey's for a night. We got the roller coaster out, and it got far, far more use than it did when C and E were little.

August 11, 2009

We had an impromptu gymnastics meet one night. I didn't get the camera down there fast enough to catch Jon's floor routine, but I did get to see Rowan do a forward roll. When we tried to get him to repeat it, he kept trying to do an Ellie version.

August 10, 2009

We had a pretty windy storm the other night, and it knocked down two of Conor's sunflowers. This one may make it to the end of the summer, but I don't really like its chances.

August 9, 2009

On Tuesdays I take Ellie to gymnastics, and the boys stay home. Usually they eat frozen pizza for dinner and watch the NFL Network. This time Rowan brought the football players upstairs and set everything up by himself. At first we thought he was really getting the game, but then he kept bringing the referee to Jon saying "Open dis please", so maybe not.

August 8, 2009

1. I am not a water balloon magician. I actually have to fill them up at the sink.
2. Just a mental note to do Ellie's hair a little more often.

August 7, 2009

We have a lot of toys for boys. Most of them for boys over 3, but that doesn't seem to stop our not-first-child.

August 6, 2009

I asked Conor and Ellie what the one thing was that they wanted to do before school started. Ellie wanted to go to the pool one more time. It was definitely hot enough, so we went. For some reason it was about 20 degrees cooler at the pool, but the 7 year olds didn't mind. Rowan only wanted to swim for a bit, and then he ran around on the grass.

August 5, 2009

This is really the extent of his riding. Just waiting for a push, really.

August 4, 2009

Rowan loves to read books. This was the first of 3 times he picked out that book for us. Thank goodness Grandpa was there for the first reading. (I get a little bored with repetition).

August 3, 2009

Note: I really do take pictures every day. It's just getting them on the computer that seems to be a challenge lately.

We took Conor and Ellie to a drive-in movie. I've been getting emails from the drive in all summer telling what movies are playing, and they finally had one we could take the kids to. Neither of the kids had any concept of a drive-in movie. I couldn't even think of any movies we've seen where people go to the drive-in.

There were about 12 other cars there, which I thought was a lot for a Monday night. Conor and Ellie were the only ones in their pjs, so they weren't interested in getting out of the truck. (I do think they were happy to have them on for the ride home). We stopped and got dinner to eat while we waited, and we'd picked out candy too.

We saw Ice Age 3. We'd seen the other 2 fairly recently, so we knew Conor would find it hysterical and Ellie wouldn't be scared. That's a pretty good movie judge for us.

August 2, 2009

I got the little trike out for Rowan. He can almost reach the pedals. Fortunately for him, there's always plenty of people around to push. (I'll be taking applications for after school starts).

August 1, 2009

Saturday we went to the Balloon Festival. We always love it, and we did again this year. Once we got there that is. And until we tried to leave. From when we got to Indianola to actually getting to the parking lot was at least 45 minutes. Fortunately lift off was delayed so we didn't miss anything. We left right after the balloons took off, but again, it was a good 45 minutes of sitting in the truck waiting to move. I think next year we'll go during the week!

One of Conor's favorite balloons:

Not my favorite balloon, but a Coca-Cola one.

I don't remember there being that much screaming while we were there...

Another tooth lost in the Wilson house.
