Ellie did a little painting. The striped turtleneck is what she uses for a smock, as anything that resembles an actual smock would make her cry.
My New Year's Resolution for 2008 is to take more pictures. Well, maybe not just more pictures, but pictures more often. This is proof that I'm keeping that resolution!

On Thursday Jon and Conor went to a basketball game in Van Meter. We met at the mall to play a bit and have dinner before they went. Conor and Ellie had fun, although they were the biggest ones there. They would have liked to have been able to run a little more freely. Rowan practiced his stairclimbing.Wednesday, February 18, 2009

If there is a little time in the morning before we need to leave for school, C and E get to watch a little tv. Because someone tends to drag his feet and roll around on the floor complaining as we're trying to get out the door, today we started a new rule. Shoes, coats and backpacks must be on before the tv is turned on. (Hat and mittens are optional. Conor wisely chose to wear them). If it were just Ellie, she could get up 30 minutes before we left and still have time to play. Not so with the boy.
Rowan insisted on wearing his coat as well.
PS - Conor does not have a vision problem. He's gargling his water. (Duh).

This morning we had no snow left in the yard. Around 12:30 it started to snow, and now we have about 7 inches. After we made Valentine cupcakes, all of us (except Jon) went out to play. Some of us only lasted 5 minutes, while others made it a couple of hours. It was a very pretty snow, but it did take Jon an hour to get home. We'll probably head out again tomorrow, but I won't be trying this (it's one of Conor's attempts):
Here's one of Ellie's attempts (she's in the pink):

Yesterday I got to go on a field trip with Conor and Ellie. We rode the bus to Ames to see "Seussical the Musical". It was just about as great as it sounds. The kids had fun though. Ellie chose to sit by me on the bus, but Conor decided to sit with friends. After that was conferences, which went very well. And then on to gymnastics. It was a very busy day!

On Tuesdays Ellie has gymnastics, and I usually take her. That means dinner for everyone is quick and simple. Ellie usually has Kid Cuisine (tv dinners), but Conor's still hungry after that. This time we tried a Hungry-Man dinner (1 lb of food). It seemed to fill him up, but he still needed part of an orange and a dessert. I'm thinking that in about 10 years we'll need to have a bigger grocery budget.

Saturday was a beautiful day. Jon and Conor played basketball, and kept score in the snow.

Ellie and I went to her skating party for school. She was very nervous to go, but had a fabulous time. Her best friend was there, unexpectedly. And they were both wearing hot pink bows. And they didn't even plan it! It was quite possibly the best night ever for her.

Rowan confirmed my fear that we'll be outside all summer, chasing him.
