April 27, 2010

She's getting a little crazier, don't you think?

April 26, 2010

It's that time of year again - when we find birthday lists all over the place. Here's my favorite so far. It's actually the only one I've seen so far from Conor. The two items: dog (black lab pup) and back scratcher.

April 25, 2010

Rowan was here.

April 24, 2010

On Saturday we went to Jon's parents for a late Easter/birthday celebration. The Easter bunny came, and this is some of the aftermath.

Candy, money, eggshell. Candy, money, eggshell.

April 23, 2010

On Friday Ellie and I went with friends to an American Girl fashion show. It was pretty much the same program as the one we went to last year, so I wouldn't say it was stellar. But it was for a great cause, and we both got to talk with good friends there and back, so I'd say it was a total success.

You know the coil at the top of the garage door? It's supposed to be two pieces, one on each side of the garage door track. If there are four coils, that's bad. It means that you can't even force the garage door open. Trust me.

April 21, 2010

I've been working at a new job for a month or so now. Just two days a week, and one of those is just half a day. Ellie's been missing me though, during the 2 hours she's home with the boys and Jon. (On a day that Mallory is home, no less). So we've been taking walks in the evening after dinner. I'd love to tell you that we have wonderful chats, but really, this is how they mostly go:

April 20, 2010

Lunch on the deck, prepared, served and photographed by Daddy. It does not get much better than this for Rowan!

April 19, 2010

This is the library basket. And on Monday afternoons, before C and E get home from school, it truly is the library basket. Any other time during the week it's also the "Mom doesn't want this in the living room, so I'll just put it here for now" basket.

Odd poses for DS. Odd poses for reading. It makes sense.
And yeah, feetie jammies in April. This is where the saying "pick your battles" applies.

April 17, 2010

Saturday was First Communion Day. We had lots of family, but I didn't take too many pictures. The ones I did take are a bit of a summary of life around here.

1. "Conor, Ellie, stand in front of your cake so I can take a picture before I cut it." Please note how Rowan assumes that what applies to the big kids naturally applies to him.

2. Overheard right after this photo was taken: "I can't wait until this is all over so I can wear my suit whenever I want." "I can't wait until it's all over so I never have to wear this stupid dress again."
Yep. That's it in a nutshell.

April 16, 2010

We added sand to the sandbox again this year. "For Rowan", we kept telling ourselves.

April 15, 2010

Happy Birthday Jon!

April 14, 2010

The cd from Jaden's birthday is very, very popular.

Also, does anyone have any sort of event they'll be attending that involves a dance? Apparently our older two have no concept of how to really dance. When Jon and Ellie went to the Valentine's Day dance, Jon had to perform and emergency intervention to work with Ellie a bit. Conor is headed in the same direction.

April 13, 2010

This is the third take. Our whole goal was to document "Bizzert"!

April 12, 2010

It's spring. That means crazy-looking tricks on the swings.

April 11, 2010

A friend was cleaning out her kids' rooms, and couldn't throw this away. She was thinking Rowan would like it, and he does, when Conor isn't playing with it.

April 10, 2010

The big kids were in Kansas City, so we got a lot done around the house.

April 9, 2010

We found a tote in the basement that looked interesting to Rowan. I had labelled it "Rowan - 3", so I figured it was close enough. He loves these trucks!

April 8, 2010

Sometimes I think we should have two DSs. But then I remember that this is one of the rare times they work as a team, so we're probably good with one.

April 7, 2010

This is a leprechaun trap. Apparently the 3rd graders make them during their small machines unit, and the 2nd graders get to see them. So C and E made one, and took it to school. It was at home for a few days, and they were very disappointed to find it empty every morning.

April 6, 2010

This is a sign that winter is pretty much behind us - the first CSA delivery of the season!

April 5, 2010

We recently got Wii Fit. Everyone loves it. Well, Jon just thinks it's okay. But he is by far the best skateboarder in the house.

April 4, 2010

Happy Easter!

Sarah and her sous chef again. (See? It's any time she asks, and pleasantly too!)

April 3, 2010

Whenever he's with Sarah, Conor is a willing assistant. This does not carryover to her sister.

April 2, 2010

Last year for their birthday, Kathy gave Conor and Ellie a landscaping kit that included forsythia. To my complete amazement, they're blooming!

April 1, 2010

For their music concert, Conor wore his new suit (and his much too short tie). Ellie wore her Easter dress.

At one point I actually asked Jon if he thought Conor was going to throw up, because he looked terrible. Turns out he was just thrilled to be there.
There are about 125 second graders, so you're not really getting the full picture. The video helps explain just how thrilled Conor was. My favorite part, however, is the kid you see over his shoulder. I'm sure it's because I know him, but it cracks me up. He does not, in fact, have any sort of musical instrument.

March 31, 2010

The weather got a little chilly the past few days, and that may be my fault. But our screens are clean, and ready for some more beautiful, warm, sunshiney days!

A side effect of cleaning screens:

March 30, 2010

Conor has recently discovered the outside basketball hoop. It's not new - it was actually here when we bought the house. He's just somehow figured out (finally!) that he can take his "game" against himself from the toyroom to the outside.

March 29, 2010

I'm thinking that the sandbox will be popular again this year. It's already hard to keep Rowan out of it.

March 28, 2010

Whatever Conor does, Rowan does.

March 27, 2010

Another Wilson game. You take random blocks that you found in the living room (where there really aren't supposed to be any toys, but whatever). When it's your turn, Rowan picks a block. That block, and any other blocks you have of that type, are the base for your building.

You create, using all of the blocks that are in the living room.

When your building is complete, Rowan smashes it with his dump truck, then uses his tow truck to haul the dump truck away. Next player.
