June 27, 2010

A quick pilates workout before everyone headed home.

June 26, 2010

Sturgis Falls! Rowan sat for a picture, but changed his mind about riding in the whole parade. He just watched. But the girls waved a lot!

Mom cleaned out the front closet. Bailey got to take this home:

Very few things make us miss the reunion at the farm, but this is one of them:

As hot as it was, Grandpa drove around the block several times with the wagon:
And Conor's team won the tournament:

You'd think that the "25 most played list" on my itunes would tell a lot about me. In reality, it tells a lot about my 8 year olds. They have pretty good taste, for the most part.

June 24, 2010

Both of these boys like chocolate milk.

And both of these Ellie's love sparkly silver flip flops!

June 23, 2010

The least blurry gymnastics picture from Wednesday. Notice the new red leotard, and the high bar!

June 22, 2010

Not long ago Conor bought two rubber snakes at the Dollar Tree. They are now named, and reside in a box in his room somewhere. (I'm trying to remember that).

June 21, 2010

We played on the playground, swam at the water park, and grilled out at our cabin. The kids did NOT want to leave. (Although that may have had more to do with Bria and Taylor's being there rather than all of the activities).

Yee-haw!

June 20, 2010

On Father's Day we met the Wilsons at Honey Creek Resort after Conor's football game. It doesn't look like they had a bad time, does it?

June 19, 2010

All three of them were completely astounded that I knew how to make playdough. It was like I'd never done it before.

June 18, 2010

Note to self: Bibs with popsicles are still a good idea.

June 17, 2010

Today was the last day of basketball camp. I fully admit that I'm biased towards UNI, but it was a great camp. Even Jon and Conor will tell you that, and they are far more neutral than me. Conor had more fun than last year at Drake, and part of that was because we follow UNI more. He knew a lot of the players going into it. And part of it is because UNI is awesome.

I mean really. This is the biggest celebrity there is right now for a UNI fan.

I'm pretty sure he'll go back next year. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for hosting us all week!

June 16, 2010

Ellie went to the UNI volleyball camp on Wednesday morning. She had a pretty good time. She told me that she got to eat a little pizza and an ice cream sandwich, and Conor didn't. I'm afraid that's a big part of why she liked it.

June 15, 2010

Another day of basketball camp. Conor even told me that he made a friend!

June 14, 2010

It's hard to tell, but Conor's in a white shirt. He has black shorts with a red stripe down the side, white shoes, and black socks. (And he's the one who fakes and then scores).

This was the first day of camp. When I picked him up at noon, this was our conversation:

Me: How was camp?

C: It was the best camp of my life. Do you know who my coach is?

Me: I saw! Ali!

C: Ali Farokhmanesh. He said I have a good shot.

I tried to get Conor to back on Tuesday and tell Ali that he also has a good shot, but Conor wasn't going for it.

Cardinals are beautiful in the winter. This one is not so beautiful. He's annoying. He sees his reflection in the office window and both kitchen windows, and is not afraid to defend his territory. He's persistent, I'll grant him that.

June 12, 2010

I'm really afraid Rowan's going to like soccer. And wrestling. And other yucky sports.

June 11, 2010

The kids and I went to the Science Center last week. Everyone had fun, even Rowan. Most activities are for older kids, so I thought he might be bored, but I should have known he'd find a way to have fun. We went to a movie in the planetarium - something about Big Bird and Elmo and the night sky. While we were waiting for it to start, Rowan yelled "Come on Big Bird! We have to get away from the popo!" Yeah, I have no idea.

Actually, I do. I think it's this guy:

It looks like a big staged joke, but there are days...

Does it seem like most of my pictures are taken in this same spot?

June 9, 2010

The best part of this picture of a messy boy is that his shirt says "My favorite color is dirt".

June 8, 2010

It looks like a big patch of weeds now, but soon it will be my very favorite part of the garden.

June 7, 2010

It won't be very long and that girl will be my best (only?) babysitter.

June 6, 2010

I was on a video kick, I guess. Rowan has finally learned that bandaids aren't what hurts, but rather the things under bandaids that sometimes do.

June 5, 2010

The kids around here do NOT know to come in out of the rain.

June 4, 2010

That's his dancing hat.

June 3, 2010

Happy last day of 2nd grade!!

June 2, 2010

This isn't a typical grocery day. The cart usually has much more in it, and Rowan's usually in a pretty good mood. This is after his air guitar performances, so he was a little tired.

Really: I was walking through the aisles, and he was walking and helping. Every once in awhile, I heard a "bee-yaw" accompanied by an arm flail. It wasn't quiet (like someone two aisles over would wonder what it was), and it was in the middle of the aisle. I finally understood that he was trying to tell me "air guitar".

June 1, 2010

We usually get a new pool every year. It's kind of wasteful, I know, but by the end of the summer, it's gross. Slimy, smelly, icky gross. So we toss it, and then I buy a new one at the beginning of the summer. I grabbed this one quickly, without looking at the dimensions. I just made sure I got the 3-ring, not the 2-ring. I guess in my head I thought that would be bigger. But it's really just deeper. This one is good for Rowan, but it's not too good for sharing.

May 31, 2010

Conor and his shadow.

May 30, 2010

Eating on the deck is one of the coolest things we do around here.

May 29, 2010

I know little girls are messy. But did you know little boys are too? They have so much stuff that just seems pointless to me.

May 28, 2010

Ellie is going to miss 2nd grade. Her 2nd grade teacher is tied with her 1st grade teacher for best teacher EVER.
