On Saturday, both Conor and Ellie had birthday parties to go to. Both were gone from before dinner until quite late, which meant that it was Jon, Rowan and me. That evening, we learned several things.1. While the unknown (such as a party at an I Cubs game) will still turn Conor into a jerk, having a friend come over here before and then ride with us to the party will really, really alleviate the jerkiness.
2. With the exception of two of my friends, we are the only parents in the whole world who have a "no sleep overs until you're eight" rule. Ellie's best friend had a slumber party at a hotel, and Ellie got picked up at 9. There were still 5 girls there, but both E and her friend cried. (Heartless, heartless parents).
3. People who have just one child need to shut up about how hard it is. Yeah, it's probably hard sometimes, but just one? Come on.
