Sarah picked up Conor and Ellie on Sunday morning. They went out for pancakes, then made me a birthday cake. It was delicious!!

The Heat played in one tournament this summer. They came in 2nd, having lost to a team of 5th graders.

Lots of them, but no red ones yet!

A parent of twins always worries about competing and comparing. Having a boy and a girl instead of 2 of the same makes it a bit easier, but we're always aware of it. We talk about how everybody has things that they're good at, and things that they're not as good at. They'll be in different classrooms this year so they don't compare themselves academically. They don't have the same outside of school activities, blah, blah, blah. We worry about it, but there's usually no reason to. Until swimming lessons this year - Ellie passed, Conor didn't. We did see it coming, and so talked to them individually about "what would you do if...". It didn't turn out like we thought. Conor was fine, and Ellie felt badly for him. So next time, maybe we won't worry so much.

The sadness is twofold: Conor actually left the house to play with someone else, AND Conor didn't say goodbye. The thing is, he did say goodbye, he just didn't hug Rowan. Nor did he wave as they drove off.

"Look, Mom. I'm weighting."

We had to run an errand after swimming lessons, and she was cold. Plus, I have no fashion sense.
