On Thursday Jon and Conor went to a basketball game in Van Meter. We met at the mall to play a bit and have dinner before they went. Conor and Ellie had fun, although they were the biggest ones there. They would have liked to have been able to run a little more freely. Rowan practiced his stairclimbing. My New Year's Resolution for 2008 is to take more pictures. Well, maybe not just more pictures, but pictures more often. This is proof that I'm keeping that resolution!

If there is a little time in the morning before we need to leave for school, C and E get to watch a little tv. Because someone tends to drag his feet and roll around on the floor complaining as we're trying to get out the door, today we started a new rule. Shoes, coats and backpacks must be on before the tv is turned on. (Hat and mittens are optional. Conor wisely chose to wear them). If it were just Ellie, she could get up 30 minutes before we left and still have time to play. Not so with the boy.
Rowan insisted on wearing his coat as well.
PS - Conor does not have a vision problem. He's gargling his water. (Duh).

This morning we had no snow left in the yard. Around 12:30 it started to snow, and now we have about 7 inches. After we made Valentine cupcakes, all of us (except Jon) went out to play. Some of us only lasted 5 minutes, while others made it a couple of hours. It was a very pretty snow, but it did take Jon an hour to get home. We'll probably head out again tomorrow, but I won't be trying this (it's one of Conor's attempts):
Here's one of Ellie's attempts (she's in the pink):
