Saturday was Rowan's birthday party. We did our usual grilling out, followed by cake and presents. Rowan didn't understand the presents part very well, although he did like his new cars. The cake part, he completely understood!

He wore one of his two first birthday outfits. This one had a cupcake on the front, and on the butt:

Tonight I tried to get a video of Rowan dancing. Whenever we turn the radio on in the boys' room, he holds onto the changing table and dances, sometimes quite seriously. The problem is, it's hard to get a picture of him anymore. As soon as he sees the camera, he flashes his "silly smile". We may have created a monster with that.

On Thursday we got a package in the mail. It was Rowan's birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Wilson. (Thank you)!!! I don't think we'll use it at the table at home, but we had to try it out for snack. I think he likes it. (And he gets his silly smile from his brother).

One of my college roommates always said "He's so busy!" about her son. I just figured, even after C and E, that it was just something she said, like "Digger!" if someone tripped. Now, however, I understand. Rowan is always busy.

Ellie's been able to ride her bike without training wheels for awhile now. She just needed a little work on turning. And oh yeah, she had absolutely no interest in it. Today a neighbor was learning to ride hers, and Jon and I teased Ellie about riding hers. At first she ran up to her room, but then a few minutes later she came down and told Jon she wanted to try. She's actually pretty good!
