Sometimes I'm a mean Mom. For example, when asked (on a beautiful afternoon) if they could get on the internet and do webkins with the 11 year old neighbor, I said "No, go outside." When asked if they could have a popsicle at 11:30, I said "No, it's almost lunchtime." When asked again if they could play webkins on the computer, I said "NO!" not as pleasantly as the first time. But this redeems me. Made from an extra set of sheets, it attaches to the swingset with velcro and ties. And it is VERY popular! (Thanks for the idea, Mom).

Today was an awesome Memorial Day Saturday. It rained a lot this morning, but cleared up for the afternoon and ended up being quite nice. Conor and I went sandal shopping, and then we grilled out. It was a great day!

Oh, and Jon and I played horse. I don't want to brag, but H-O-R-S to H-O-R-S-E (for the first time ever). Disclaimer: Jon's dunk was ruled an unacceptable shot while playing horse. That may have affected the outcome.

Unfortunately, this doesn't always work.

What I see while I'm trying to make dinner (too bad you can't hear what I hear):

What he sees:

It may be a long summer.

Kindergarten graduation was on Wednesday. I'll admit my first response to kindergarten graduation was that it sounded a little cheesy. I love my kids, but it is kindergarten, and it's not like they're even going to a different school next year. (And honestly, it's not like it was a fabulous year that I'll always miss.)

The ceremony turned out to be okay. It was at a park close to school. They went there in the morning with all kindergarteners, then stayed for a pizza lunch. At the actual ceremony, they sang a song, then each kid said their name and what they liked best about kindergarten. I planned on taping C and E, but flubbed the camera for him. I did get Ellie, but you can't really hear her. Conor's favorite thing was field trips, and Ellie's was reading and art. And after the ceremony my kids didn't go back to school. We just stayed at the park and played.

One time while Jon was in Arizona, I parked in the driveway for some reason. As I backed out, I heard a noise, and before I realized it was the basketball net, it had stopped. It turns out it did more damage than rip up the net. It rotated the entire backboard a bit. All is fixed now, kind of.

(It was a little like the time I backed straight out of the driveway instead of angling, except Jon wasn't as quiet as Dad was.)
