Today was family party day. The weather didn't really cooperate this year, but we still had a fun time! (M-C, you were missed!!)

This is what happens when your Grandma, your aunt and your great-aunt all tell you about your Mom's Grandpa and what he let us do to our cakes. And then your great-aunt goads you on. Notice that this isn't the first lick. (To his credit, he did tell her, after she suggested he take a bite, that you can't take a bite until after they sing to you. Until then you can just lick). This is one of the reasons they each get their own cake.

A whole can of sprinkles, six candles plus a number six candle, three happy birthday signs and eight soccer balls. This is yet another reason they get their own cake.

It really and truly had more frosting on it at the beginning of the day.

Aunt Sarah's gifts are sometimes, in her words, "self-serving."

See the above description of Aunt Sarah's gifts.

Yes, it is almost dark out, but they're looking for birds with Conor's new bird watching kit. I think there are two entries in the notebook already!

No pictures on Friday, and I'm feeling a little sentimental. So if you ever find yourself looking for a worthy charity, remember the March of Dimes.

Today was the big day. Six years old. They got to wear their birthday shirts to school and open their presents from each other. (Two items picked out at the dollar store). And yes, that is a leopard print heart trimmed in red feathers. It was clearanced at the dollar store because it was left over from Valentine's Day. I can't imagine why. Conor knew she'd love it. And he was right.

Wednesday the big kids got out of school early. Jon had the day off, so we did a little celebrating. Several weeks ago I told them that they could share a party somewhere, or that we would take them to Build-A-Bear. There was no hesitation from either of them. I think Build-A-Bear may be some sort of mecca to them. I realize we have zero need for any additional animals at our house, but they do play with them quite a bit. And they LOVED that store. And I didn't have to have a party. Then we played at the mall for a little bit and went out for dinner. Carlos O'Kelly's, of course!

Today every kindergartener (125 or so!) at our school went on an all day field trip to the farm. They rode horses, played on hay bales, fed goats, calves and chickens, played in the barn, held baby chicks and kittens, and grilled hot dogs for lunch. It was utter chaos. And they loved it!
