Wednesday the big kids got out of school early. Jon had the day off, so we did a little celebrating. Several weeks ago I told them that they could share a party somewhere, or that we would take them to Build-A-Bear. There was no hesitation from either of them. I think Build-A-Bear may be some sort of mecca to them. I realize we have zero need for any additional animals at our house, but they do play with them quite a bit. And they LOVED that store. And I didn't have to have a party. Then we played at the mall for a little bit and went out for dinner. Carlos O'Kelly's, of course!

Today every kindergartener (125 or so!) at our school went on an all day field trip to the farm. They rode horses, played on hay bales, fed goats, calves and chickens, played in the barn, held baby chicks and kittens, and grilled hot dogs for lunch. It was utter chaos. And they loved it!

Dear Riebkes Family,

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This afternoon we pulled out a present that Rowan got for Christmas to see if he'd play with it. I think he will, when he gets to see it up close. We'll try that tomorrow.

Mary-Claire came to visit this weekend. Ellie has been looking forward to it for so long, and had so many plans, that I was afraid she would be too intimidated to say a word. That lasted maybe 10 minutes. We had a great weekend, and ended it with a HSM marathon. (But don't tell the kids about the marathon part. They think we just watched one)!

Most evenings in our house end with the reading of both Books-In-A-Bag, and a chapter from our current chapter book. Most often Matt Christopher, but right now it's Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle.

Happy May Day! The moments worthy of pictures don't come at a slow and steady pace around here. It's more in bursts. So there are "search for a picture" days, and then today: May Day pictures, and a "Book In a Bag" video.
